
Prof. Dr. Luís Madeira
Luís Madeira, 42, is a psychiatrist and Associate Professor of Psychiatry. He is currently coordinator of the Psychiatry Department at the CUF Descobertas Hospital and President-Elect of the Portuguese Society of Psychiatry and Mental Health. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Health from Imperial College in London, a Master's Degree in Philosophy and Mental Health from the University of Central Lancashire, a PhD in Medicine - Philosophy of Psychiatry and an Aggregation Degree in Medical Deontology. He is Associate Professor with habilitation of Medical Ethics and Deontology and of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon. He is the coordinator of the Psychiatry and Mental Health at the Faculty of Medicine of the Catholic University. He is currently serving his second term as a counsellor on the National Ethics Council for Life Sciences. He is also a psychotherapist for the Portuguese Society of Client-Centred Psychotherapy and Person-Centred Approach.
