
Dr. Marisa Casanova Dias
Dr Marisa Casanova Dias is a consultant perinatal psychiatrist at the Maudsley Hospital, London, and President of the UEMS Psychiatry Section. She has a distinguished career in psychiatric research, policy, and education, with a focus on women's mental health and perinatal psychiatry.
Marisa holds an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship and is completing her PhD on bipolar disorder in the perinatal period at Cardiff University. Her work has included policy development at the UK Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology and research on women's mental health at King’s College London. She has contributed significantly to clinical guidelines during her leadership fellowship at NICE, particularly on the Bipolar Guideline.
A champion for education, Marisa previously served as President of the European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT), where she founded the EFPT Exchange Programme. She currently serves as Secretary of the Women’s Mental Health Section at the European Psychiatric Association and as an Executive Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Perinatal Faculty.
Marisa has chaired the Education and Training Group for The Lancet Psychiatry's Commission on Mental Health in Ukraine and is leading the upcoming Commission on Women’s Mental Health. At this congress, she will present the latest developments from UEMS Psychiatry, highlighting the intersection of European standards, postgraduate training, and clinical excellence in psychiatry.
