Prof. Dr. Lorin M. Scher

Lorin M. Scher, MD, FACLP is Professor and Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the UC Davis School of Medicine, where he also holds the Roy T. Brophy Endowed Chair. He directs Integrated Behavioral Health Services across UC Davis Health’s ambulatory care network and serves as Medical Director for Government and Community Relations. Earlier in his career, Dr. Scher served in leadership roles within Emergency Psychiatry and continues to practice consultation-liaison psychiatry across inpatient and outpatient medical settings. His clinical and academic interests include trauma-related illness, emergency and primary care psychiatry, integrated behavioral health models, neuropsychiatry, and health systems science. He serves as principal investigator on multiple state- and foundation-funded grants focused on behavioral health integration, workforce development, and neuropsychiatric care delivery, and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and academic textbooks.
