Course on Leadership and Professional Skills for Early Career Psychiatrists

Dear Colleagues, 

We are honoured to announce the Course on Leadership and Professional Skills for Early Career Psychiatrists led by Professor Norman Sartorius and Professor Sir Graham Thornicroft in Timișoara, Romania. 

The course will take place from the 20^th-22^nd of May 2024 and is organised by the Romanian Association of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (ARPP) in collaboration with the Romanian Association of Psychiatric Trainees (AMRPR), “Victor Babeș” University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Timișoara and the Association for the Improvement of Mental Health Programmes, Geneva (AIMH).

The course will aim at developing the participants’ leadership and professional skills. It is a great opportunity to learn from two of the world’s most prominent and influential psychiatrists on how to make presentations and posters, read and write scientific articles, prepare a proposal for a project, produce a curriculum vitae, chair a session and also how to deal with other challenges that young psychiatrists face.

The mandatory requirement to attend the Course is proficiency in the English language. Attendance is limited to 16 spots.

Application process: 

1.     In order to apply, please submit the following documents:

•     Curriculum vitae
•     Motivational letter
•     Signed recommendation letter from your institution certifying that you are a psychiatry trainee or within 5 years of completing your specialist training (maximum age of 40)

3.     Deadline for application: 15^th of March 2024 
4.     Fluency of English will be confirmed via online video-calls before selection
5. The participants will be selected by the Professor Norman Sartorius and  Professor Sir Graham Thornicroft

Organisational details: 
Date: 20^th-22^nd May 2024 
Location: Timișoara, Romania – Hotel Timișoara 
Accomodation: The organisers are unable to provide the participants with accommodation, however we can assist you in finding affordable housing.
Tax for participation: The course is free for the selected participants! The organisers will arrange a social event (dinner) with Professor Norman Sartorius and Professor Sir Graham Thornicroft. Should you wish to participate, the tax for this will be 50 Euros.
Disclaimer: The Leadership course and the 16^th edition of the National Conference of Psychiatry will take place consecutively, therefore the selected participants will also be able to participate in the national event (participation fee not included).
